the Obedient Perfectionist aka Nurse Ratched | Awareness

Nurse Ratched, also known as the Obedient Perfectionist, is a central character in Ken Kesey's novel "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." She is the head nurse at a mental institution and is known for her strict and authoritarian demeanor. Nurse Ratched maintains control over the patients through manipulation and intimidation, using her power to suppress their individuality and maintain order in the ward. Her actions often reflect a desire for control and dominance rather than genuine care for the well-being of the patients. Throughout the novel, Nurse Ratched's character serves as a symbol of institutional oppression and the dehumanization of individuals under her authority.

The Nurse Ratched is the perfectionist of the villains. She tolerates no mistakes and no defiance. She uses humiliation as her method of control, whether that is to shame you for your intelligence, or ability to pick up social cues or "lobotomize" you. This inner part is willing to do anything to maintain the hierarchy inherent with their role as the one in charge.

In One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Nurse Ratched is pitted against McMurphy, a self-admitted mental patient who is looking to evade punishment. He wreaks havoc on the ward and brings the other patients back to life. Ratched was always a stickler for the rules and could not be seen to be losing control, so she lobotomized McMurphy to maintain her position.
